BEN MOÏTA
FOUNDER
Ben Moïta has a lifelong interest in public heath, and has studied epidemiology in the United States, with a particular emphasis on tuberculosis.
During Ben’s early years in Chad, he worked as a French teacher for the Peace Corp. This experience introduced him to NGO’s working to bring literacy, health care, agriculture and education to families in Chad. Through the Peace Corp, Ben made life-long friends who welcomed him to study in the United States. Ben because a U.S. citizen in _______, and holds dual citizenship with Chad.
Ben is a natural entrepreneur, who has brought economic opportunity by investing in job creation enterprises in Chad. He has envisioned how to adopt solar energy as a primary energy source for use in Chadian homes and schools.
Ben Founded the Ketema Julienne Health Initiative in honor of, and in memory of, his mother who modeled care for her community. Ketema Julienne Moïta grew up in Sarh Province, and raised her eleven children (Ben is the oldest son) in Moundou and N’djamena.
JONATHAN TORALTA
FIELD MANAGER
Jonathan is a native Chadian currently living in Chad. He is passionate about helping his fellow Chadians through literacy and educational services. We are thrilled to have him as part of the Ketema Julienne Health Initiative to oversee on-the-ground activities to start-up and grow the programs.
Our Plans
Building a Center
The Ketema Jullienne Health Initative purchased two acres of land in Sarh Province. The land has been secured with a surrounding wall, and is being prepared for a small pole building to be constructed in July 2024.
Buiding a Program
Education
Jonathan Toralta, a local pastor and educator, will lead the program development. He will begin informing families in five villages of the opportunity to receive scholarship funds to the local school. These scholarships will be funded by Ketema Jullienne Health Initiative, and will help introduce the organization to the villages.
Job Creation
Anticipated program will include literacy and numeracy for women and girls. The hope is to secure sewing equipment, material and instructors to teach sewing, a vital job that creates economic opportunity. Itís anticipated that women and girls will be able to sew their own washable ìdignityî protection for menstruation.
Health Care
The Ketema Julienne Health Initiative includes a weekly clinic for primary health care, staffed by a local nurse. The nurse will take vitals, monitor the health needs of women and girls, and make referrals as necessary.
SARAH SENSEMAN
Board member
Having served in the Peace Corps when she was younger, Sarah has a deep connection to the Chadian people. Sarah was stationed in Moundou, working on water sanitation projects. She brings a wealth of experience in non-profit organizations and community funding of large projects.
